When I was growing up, my mom always used to ask me what I was doing to take care of my mind, my body, and my soul. Whenever things felt "off" in my life, it was usually a result of neglecting one or more of these three areas.
There are tons of things that you can do to take care of your mind, body, and soul, and every person may find that different things nourish them. We aren't all the same. We each have our own unique journey, and things that we like and dislike, so every person's self-care go to's will look different.
Self-care has been a pretty big buzz word for the past few years, but when I say self-care, it doesn't mean something that you buy or that you have to go to do. It isn't found in a spa or by spending money on things. Taking care of yourself is as easy as thinking about these three parts of your whole self and taking some time to reflect on what makes you feel joyful, grounded, present, and renewed in each of these areas.

I make it a point to do something that nourishes my mind, my body, and my soul everyday. I am a Mama to a 5 year old and a 4 year old, so my days aren't full of tons of extra time to spend on myself, but that doesn't ever stop me from doing something for me. I know that if I spend some time everyday taking care of myself, then I am actually a better mom. When I feel nourished and supported within myself, I am much more able to nourish and support my children and the people in my life. Like the flying wisdom says, "Put on your own oxygen mask before helping those around you."
So, what's the best way to find something that nourishes your mind, your body, and your soul? I think that journaling is a really great tool.

You don't have to have a fancy journal. Any old piece of paper will do. Or you can even use the notes app on your phone. I like to take just a minute before I journal to set the tone. Sometimes I light a candle, sometimes I put my hand over my heart and take a few deep breaths, but I like to just do something simple that acknowledges that I'm about to write with intention.
For journaling about this specific topic, I will write at the top of one page Mind, at the top of another page Body, and at the top of a third page Soul. Then you can either free write on each page about things that make you feel joyful, fulfilled, grounded, and present in each of these areas, or you can use some of the journal prompts I'll provide below. It doesn't really matter what method you use, as long as the end result is that you have a list of things that you can do every day to take care of yourself.
Our whole health is so important to living an intentional life. You can't just take care of your body without taking care of your mind and your soul and expect to live a balanced, joyful, fulfilling life. I hope this helps get you thinking about ways to take care of your whole self everyday, because when you take care of yourself, you can then go out into the world and take care of others.
